Root Canal Therapy in one visit

Root Canal Therapy in one visit

How many visits are needed for tooth denervation?

Endodontic treatment or denervation by a specialized endodontist is usually done in a visit of 1 or 2 hours under local anaesthesia, depending on the extent of the inflammation of the tooth and the number of nerves. Denervation is a painless treatment both during and after.

Initially, the tooth is isolated with a rubber isolator, then with high magnification are the root canals containing the nerves which are carefully removed. Then different drugs are placed which help fight the bacteria.

Then, after the roots are perfectly disinfected, they are filled with occluding material and the treatment is completed by filling the cavity with a seal. After the filling, the porcelain crown-case construction is always followed in order to avoid the fracture of the tooth.

Do I need a repeat appointment after denervation?

After the denervation treatment is almost always completed in one visit and although the nerves have been removed and the root canals have been occluded with a special occlusive material - gutta-percha, we usually do not feel any discomfort.

However, there are some patients who feel a slight discomfort for a few days that is completely controlled with common Panadol-type painkillers. When the treated tooth has a large lesion, cyst or abscess, its X-ray monitoring is recommended every 6 months to see that the cyst shrinks and in the end it has disappeared.
