Aesthetic dentistry: What are its treatments?

Aesthetic dentistry: What are its treatments?

At 20:

Treatment of choice around 20 is considered orthodontic treatment. It contributes to the improvement of the closure, to the permanent restoration of the crooked teeth and finally to the widening of the arches. There is no age limit for orthodontics.

The two universally accepted trends to improve color are the KTP laser and the latest generation LEDs. The KTP laser is a modern and safe technique that promises a bright smile in 1 hour visit. The pH of the bleach is essential so that after the operation the enamel remains unaffected. The whitening with led was created so that those interested with chronic sensitivities in their teeth can also whiten. The protocol of this whitening is 1 to 5 weekly visits of 20 minutes. The gums do not need isolation, protection, since the bleaching agent is very kind to the soft tissues.

The result is immediately visible from the first session. The method works cumulatively. At each visit the teeth "open" gradually. The LEDs are combined in the same session and with brushing the teeth. Therefore, when one chooses the KTP laser as the initial treatment of choice, one can in a year "refresh" the initial result together with the cleaning of his teeth. Whitening with splints at home is not recommended. The reason is that as many hours as we wear the toothpicks at home we swallow acid, many times of unknown content and damage our stomach.

Bonding: A conservative technique that is recommended when we have a problematic shape and color of teeth at the same time (gaps, crooked, denervated blackened teeth, small in size).

Since our gums, ie the "pink aesthetics" are normal and we do not have a gummy smile which is corrected with gingivoplasty, with Co2 laser we roughly roughen the enamel "enamel" and place a synthetic resin reinforced with porcelain beads, dyes and regenerate teeth. Each tooth is treated as a sculpture and reshaped in the block by applying multicolored stratification.

The bonding approach is considered conservative aesthetic restoration due to the non-traumatic nature of the technique.

No anaesthesia is required and in a 2 hour visit you have your new smile. The duration of the result is 8-10 years and a special polish is required every 6 months along with your cleaning.

Ultra-thin porcelain veneers without grinding. It is usually the treatment of choice for those who want a lasting smile. These are very thin layers of multicoloured porcelain that are placed on the front surface of the teeth, giving impressive results, since we have intense transparencies, shiny polish with duration and from natural to extreme white shades to choose from.Porcelain veneers are placed by welding on the teeth, 2 visits are required to obtain them and their duration exceeds 15-20 years.

Dental face lift or dental anti-aging lift? Holistic approach to the face with emphasis on the teeth. Aging of the oral cavity due to the loss of some teeth, periodontal disease, erosions and abrasions causes aging of the face, as the muscles around the mouth and lips cease to support properly. At the same time, the reduction of the vertical dimension, ie the way in which the upper and lower jaws "press" creates a collapse of the muscles and the skin. The appearance of the face changes creating wrinkles. The restoration of the vertical dimension to normal, the filling of the missing teeth with implants or bridges and the placement of faces in the aesthetic zone restore youth to the smile and at the same time to the face, with results similar to the face lift. Lifting without a scalpel and a bright smile in 3 visits.

Since you belong to the category that did not take care of your teeth and chose whole dentures "teeth" as a therapeutic solution, now it is time to throw them away once and for all. Dental implants are your second chance for permanent teeth. With 6 or 8 implants in the upper jaw and then in the lower jaw you can get all your teeth forever. If the osseointegration is successful and with the right design, your new teeth with the technique of dental lifting anti-aging -dental face lift can change your face forever.  A common example that we have all seen, is that the face of a person who simply pulls out the denture "collapses", "chewing gum" to truly understand how important and leading role our teeth play in the face.

 Are cosmetic dentistry treatments painful?

My answer will be generalized by saying categorically that cosmetic dental treatments have little or no pain. In hypersensitive phobic patients, local anesthesia is applied, which overcomes the discomfort and is usually administered for psychological reasons.

Are the results of cosmetic dentistry permanent?

As in any medical procedure, so in cosmetic dentistry everything is relevant. Bleaching every 1-2 years requires maintenance due to dyes, coffee, cigarettes, Coca Cola, red wine etc that we use. Bonding every 8-10 years needs replacement due to the nature of the material which absorbs pigments. Therefore, the extension of the working life of the works is done by polishing them every 6 months.

Porcelain veneers remain unchanged over time. But what about our gums which age like the skin?

The same goes for the hoops, cases. Dental materials do not change but the conditions in our mouth change due to age.

The implants finally have the longest course in our mouth with the basic condition to keep the supporting bone stable. But how can we achieve this when osteoporosis in old age changes it?

Tips:

  • Do not neglect your dental cleaning.
  • This way you take care of the gums and at the same time the bone is kept for a long time.
  • Do not get bored of brushing daily and use all the oral hygiene products given to you, interdental brushes, dental floss, mouthwash.
  • Do not consume hard foods. Your teeth do not have the same chewing resistance as you grow older.

Are Aesthetic Dentistry Treatments Expensive?

The cost of dental supplies and laboratory fees unfortunately make dental restorations expensive treatments. The more branded materials, tools, machines and expensive laboratories a dentist chooses, the higher the cost.

However, if you choose to make a filling on your teeth with an initial cost of 30 euros and every year it "leaves" and you are charged again in the end, how much will it cost you?

However, the cost in dentistry is not measured in euros but in the "dental cost" of treatment of the specific tooth in the end. If the tooth is damaged, a denervation costs much more than a filling, you will suffer and if you record the total cost you will find that it costs many euros, time and hassle.

Who performs cosmetic dentistry treatments?

Certainly, cosmetic dentistry treatments are not performed only by celebrities. Maybe through them the work of a renowned dentist is "seen" because the smile he designed has a projection in the media. Aesthetic dental treatments are requested by all people who have a problem and some celebrities. All my patients, like me, are not celebrities but we want to have beautiful, healthy and why not, white teeth !!!
